My hypothetical thought concerning Hughes and the NFA in context of the implied result of Miller was that there exists a court argument which could result in the NFA being abolished. However, the biggest trouble with doing so is getting standing. You have to show personal injury by the law in question. I cannot possibly see how anyone could get standing challenging the NFA without actually breaking it in the first place. So you gotta get someone to "take one for the team" who is willing to risk the fines, jailtime, and give up firearms forever for a chance to invalidate a terrible law.
