Your constant theme of decentralization is super relevant here as well.... Decentralization also entails decentralization of media sources and (hopefully) weaning oneself from pre-packaged narratives.

This past year has been a helluva time trying to make sense of narratives that seem more and more messy and convoluted... The Rittenhouse saga seems like a suitable apotheosis:

On one side there is the "defund the police/abolish prison" crowd upset that a teenager isn't being thrown in jail.

On the other you have the "back the blue/law and order" crowd saying the criminal justice system must be corrupt.

As you allude to, hopefully this is a wake-up call for many.

Ackman was basically describing Michael Crichton's Gell-Mann Amnesia effect, where you read an article on a subject you are well-versed in and you quickly realize that the author knows nothing on the subject, so bad basic concepts are completely backwards. You laugh about how stupid that writer is and turn the page to another article you aren't well versed in and read it as if that article will be any more accurate.
